School Direct Briefing Session – 11th June

MSA Briefing Session 11th June 2013 – ‘School Direct’ – Hough End Centre – 9.00am to 12.30pm

Following interest from a number of Manchester primary headteachers, the Manchester Schools’ Alliance has arranged a morning briefing with our two universities. The focus of the session is School Direct which is becoming a major way of appointing new staff to teaching positions in our schools. The universities are very keen to work with Manchester schools to ensure a good supply of well qualified trainees. In addition to the universities there will be a presentation from the National College to provide heads with an overview of how School Direct is changing the national approach to teacher training and recruitment.

If you are already in a School Direct partnership your contribution will help develop a Manchester approach that all schools would be able to join.

The agenda for the session will be:

9.00 coffee on arrival

9.30 Welcome

9.35 Helen Woodward, Professional Delivery Lead, National College for Teaching and Learning

10.05 Jayne Barnes, Manchester Metropolitan University

10.35 Dr Linda Rush, Manchester University
