MSA Summer Conference ‘Building an Outstanding Reading School’
In partnership with Oxford University Press, we have secured James Clements to present ‘Building an Outstanding Reading School: Meeting the Challenges of the 2014 National Curriculum’ at our Summer Conference in June 2016. For ten years, James worked as a senior leader at an outstanding inner-city primary school. He was also a local authority Lead Teacher, leading training and supporting teaching and learning across a network of schools. James now works as an independent English adviser, supporting schools and local authorities across the country to develop the teaching of reading, writing and drama.
During the session he will address what Outstanding Reading Schools are and why it matters to your school, supporting staff to develop the skills to help every child become a lifelong reader, effective approaches to teaching comprehension, opportunities for teaching across the curriculum, engaging parents in their children’s reading, developing a rich reading environment and targeting resources to motivate young readers.
The conference is on Wednesday 22nd June 2016, 9am – 3.30pm at The Irish World Heritage Centre, 1 Irish Town Way.
This conference is for MSA members only. Places are limited to 60 (max 2 delegates per school).
