The Manchester Governors’ Annual Conference took place on Saturday 6th February at The Irish World Heritage Centre in Cheetham Hill. 53 governors attended the event at which HMI Julie Yarwood presented ‘Effective Governance and the Ofsted framework: being ready and not just for inspection’ and John Edwards, MCC Director for Education & Skills presented ‘School Performance and School Improvement – Looking Ahead.’ The keynote speakers were then followed by workshops on ‘Governing Multi-Academy Trusts,’ ‘Governing Body Self-Review’ and ‘Succession Planning & Becoming a Chair.’
Feedback from the event suggests that governors found the presentations by both keynote speakers indepth, current & informative with many taking a lot of information and knowledge back to their governing bodies. Other feedback was that the quality of the materials and the structure of the workshops were excellent and the opportunity to meet other governors and share practice invaluable.
